Obviously the bigger factions have more unique units, which these minor factions won't be able to use, but I wouldn't say it's made it any harder for us so far.Īs I said before, Radious is a good mod which adds to pretty much all the minor factions roosters, so there's much more variety for these factions, although it does change some of the campaign mechanics so it might be better to install the unit packs separately instead of downloading the entire mod pack.I agree with the Massagetae. At the moment I wouldn't say I've noticed any distinct disadvantages, although if your friend is new and he plays Rhodes it might be hard to start with just one region, or it might have the opposite effect and be easier as it's an island and unlikely to be attacked early on. From there I imagine you can move further East and eventually get rid of the Seleucid Empire - but we haven't got that far yet. As they're both Hellenic factions and Cyprus is a satrapy of Egypt it's very easy to get alliances with Sparta, Macedon, Athens etc, so you can focus your armies on taking over Turkey and getting rid of the Galacians. We haven't played for that long but we've managed to capture about 4 or so regions so far working together. The mod also adds new traits for these faction so I know that Cyprus gets a bonus for trade income on certain resources and so on, to make up for being minor factions. I think this is the mod but there are two different versions, I'll have to check when I sign into Steam later: Ĭyprus starts with one region in Turkey and Cyprus itself, and Rhodes starts with just Rhodes. Without it you could probably only start next to each other as the Greek states, which limits the amount you can both expand. Other than that you could try to find two factions which start relatively close but can expand in different direction - this is why the All Playable Factions mod is good as it means you can start pretty much next to each other with any of the factions. It's quite fun atm, although you'll probably want a mod like Radious or some other which expands the Greek unit rosters so you actually get a wide variety of units instead of the small amount you get in the base game. Currently I'm playing as Cyprus and my friend is Rhodes, so we basically start on two separate islands and can expand from there into Turkey or Greece, or maybe even attack the Seleucids. Me and my friend downloaded the All Playable Factions mod, which lets you play as all the previously uplayable factions apart from those included in DLC. Think we missed one?
